Traditional wooden toys stand the test of time - or should that be the test of toddlers! In our experience, the plastic and branded toys advertised so heavily these days tend to have far less long term play appeal than traditional toys. Wooden toys often stand up to rough play far better than brittle plastic, and provide a greater scope for imaginative play. Wood being a natural, renewable resource, is also a more environmentally sound choice. We aim to source toys made using sustainable forestry methods and recyclable packaging.

This section has been inspired by our experience of parenting and buying for our own 4 daughters. We noticed that our children more often than not were happier to play with the box and wrapping paper than what it contained. We wanted to give them presents they would be able to enjoy, and that could stand up to the rough and tumble that babies and toddlers inflict on them. The answer, we found, lay in traditional wooden toys.

We have found a selection of interesting toys - we were looking for tactile, visually stimulating, versatile toys, not purely wooden or traditional toys (although many do fit into these categories too). We have also found a selection of wooden puzzles and jigsaws and a fabulous range of wooden play food. Choosing an entirely new range of products has been an interesting experience - I admit I got some strange looks at a recent trade show when I started testing out all the pull along ducks to see which one made the best noises! Rest assured we like to put new products through their paces here!
