Cloth nappy trials are a convenient way to find out which cloth nappy or nappies are right for you, enabling you to buy in complete confidence. The cloth nappy trial scheme was a great help to me when I moved to cloth nappies, and saved me from making some expensive mistakes! It also opened my eyes to reusable nappies I hadn’t thought I would like or get on with. Cloth nappies have come a long way in recent years, and are available in all shapes and sizes, so there will be something to suit you, your baby, and your budget. However sometimes the wide range of reusable nappies out there seems overwhelming, and can make it difficult to decide which cloth nappy is best for you. If this sounds like you, read on!
What is the Plush Pants Free Cloth Nappy Trial Scheme? In a nutshell, the Cloth Nappy Trial Scheme is a try before you buy scheme for reusable nappies. The nappies supplied are all pre-washed and used, guaranteed clean and hygienic, you borrow them from me for up to 2 weeks and use them on your baby. You get to design the cloth nappy trial kit yourself, so that it contains all the products you are most interested in, and you can borrow as many different washable nappies as you'd like for up to two weeks, but please could you also restrict yourself to a maximum of two of any particular kind of cloth nappy - this means there are sufficient cloth nappies available for everyone most of the time! Please note that if demand for nappy trials is high, there may be a short wait before I can send you the cloth nappies you want to try. I suggest you e-mail me first to check on availability - christine@plushpants.com. If you are pregnant, I recommend that you book the nappy trial in advance, and then get in touch once the baby arrives and you want to get started.
OXFORDSHIRE - I also help administer the Oxfordshire Council free nappy trial scheme, if you're an Oxfordshire resident please ask for details (do specify you're in Oxfordshire!), or you can contact the council helpline on 08450 50 45 50.
How does it work? Simply look at the list below and choose which cloth nappies and wraps you would like to try (if unsure of sizes, please provide your baby's weight). Then follow these steps:
Once you've returned your cloth nappy trial set, you have a choice. If you decide to make a purchase from Plush Pants, I will give you a credit equivalent to the deposit you sent me, (less the postage charge if applicable). In other words the trial is free! If you decide not to make a purchase from Plush Pants, just let me know and I will refund you the deposit you sent me, less the hire charge. The p&p element is non-refundable. If you are unsure which cloth nappies to try and would like some advice or suggestions, please mail me (christine@plushpants.com) or phone me, Christine, on tel 01865 408040 and I will be happy to help.
Example You try (for one week):
You would pay £70.25 (£64.25 deposit plus £6.00 p&p - unless you live locally and can collect the kit in person) and I would send you the nappies and wraps you have selected. At the end of the week, you return the nappies and wraps to me. If you decide not to buy anything further from Plush Pants, then I would refund you £56.25(deposit of £64.25, less hire charge of £1 per item per week, a total charge of £8.00). If you decided to place an order with Plush Pants, then I would give you a discount of £64.25from the total of your purchase (provided your purchase amounts to more than £64.25!). Therefore the nappy trial is effectively free! Please note that if your order value is less than your deposit, you may still be liable for hire charges - however you will have the option of carrying forward any remaining unused deposit, as a credit against your next order.
Available to hire: Please note that, although I have terry squares and prefolds available to hire, I would recommend buying one or two of each to try, as this is more cost-effective. To hire a terry square for 2 weeks will cost £2.00 - to buy one will cost from £1.70 and, even if you don't like it as a nappy it makes a lovely baby bath towel or a Mummy face cloth (or a car polishing rag, duster, general mopping up cloth)! I have tried to list the products by manufacturer, to make it easier for you to find the items you are interested in. Nearly every nappy and wrap we sell is available to hire, if it's on the website but not listed here, do ask!
